Seeding your 2026
A blessed New Moon and Winter Solstice
We’ve entered the quiet time, the time of the least hours of daylight in the northern hemisphere. It is a holy and hopeful time where we must accept the limitations of light during this season and feel the anticipation of hope as the sun is reborn on the winter solstice and a new year begins.
We have a beautiful build up to the December 21 winter solstice with a new moon occurring just two days before on December19. The new moon births a new cycle; the potential of which is awakened on the winter solstice when the crescent moon gets its first light.
The December 19 new moon occurs at 28 degrees Sagittarius at 5:43 pm Pacific, symbolizing the fire of hope and the many options available to us as we venture into the quiet in-between of the earth’s new year of the sun’s rebirth at the winter solstice and man’s acknowledgement of the new year on January 1. This new moon at 28 degrees also harkens to the upcoming Lunar New Year/Solar Eclipse that will occur February 17 at 28 degrees Aquarius; a harmonious aspect to this week’s new moon.
This new moon is challenging us to seed our dreams and trust our higher knowing as the moon and sun square off with Neptune at the final degree of Jupiter ruled Pisces. What you dream of and seed this new moon/winter solstice, you will feel pushed to create and act on after the February 17 eclipse. The new moon sets the stage for your 2026.
Venus is also in optimistic Sagittarius, though she is currently hidden in the sky as she approaches the sun on her journey from morning star to evening star. Venus’ journey continues until after the eclipse on Feb. 17. Venus looks to Jupiter for direction as she squares Saturn on this new moon. Saturn wants us to build a container for our dreams as it spends its final months in Pisces, before it moves into Aries for two years on February 13 just before the eclipse.
There’s a push inside ourselves to morph what we are attracting to ourselves into something that supports our big picture dreams and to seed those dreams so we are prepared to make them a reality after the Lunar New Year/solar eclipse. We are planting the seeds this new moon/ winter solstice for what will start to bloom after the eclipse. It’s important to embrace the mutable energy of Pisces and Sagittarius because eclipses bring change and it’s often different from what we initially visualize, but the new that comes from the eclipse will have staying power.
In considering the upcoming 2026 year ahead, I don’t see a need to be alarmist, but I do want to warn everyone that those in power with nefarious ambitions and goals will likely double down on cruelty in the new year, often in the name of masculinity. It’s something astrologers have been talking about with all the outer planets, Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn, moving firmly into masculine signs in 2026.
Yet, their reality does not need to be ours. The energy is there to create the world we wish to see and bring it in as their dark path fails. We must remain a resistance of love, envisioning and working towards building the future of community, love and togetherness that we all can see. The opportunity for change is afoot, and we must be steadfast in not allowing their tactics of fear to move us away from our goals of a world where everyone is cherished and loved for their authentic selves.
Remain focused on love and have a blessed winter solstice and new year!
Blessed Be.
